A.O. Data Strategies & Agribusiness Solutions
Building Skills, Enterprises, and Sustainable Livelihoods
A.O. Data Strategies & Agribusiness Solutions is a development-oriented consulting and implementation organization committed to advancing inclusive economic transformation, youth employment, and agricultural value chain development across Nigeria and Africa. Our work bridges policy, practice, and capacity development, with a strong focus on translating knowledge into skills, jobs, and sustainable enterprises.
At the core of our mission is the belief that youth-led growth, supported by practical skills, institutional innovation, and evidence-based policy, is essential for long-term development outcomes.
Youth Skills Development & IDEAS-TVET Programme
A.O. Strategies is a Training Service Provider (TSP) under the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills – Technical and Vocational Education and Training (IDEAS-TVET) programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria. Through this programme, we are implementing structured skills acquisition and enterprise development training for young people, with a strong emphasis on agribusiness, agro-processing, and value addition.
Our IDEAS-TVET Cassava Production & Processing Programme equips trainees with:
- practical production and processing skills,
- agribusiness and enterprise development competencies,
- exposure to value chains and markets,
- and pathways into self-employment, cooperative enterprise, or out-grower schemes.
Training delivery follows a phased, competency-based approach, combining classroom learning, field and processing practicals, and digital learning through a dedicated Learning Management System (LMS). This blended approach ensures continuity, quality, and inclusiveness, while aligning with NBTE/NOS standards and national TVET objectives.
Employment-Intensive Development & International Experience
The work of A.O. Strategies is grounded in decades of experience in employment-intensive and labour-based development programmes. Our leadership has previously contributed to large-scale employment-intensive rural infrastructure and livelihoods initiatives implemented in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
These initiatives focused on:
- job creation for youth and vulnerable groups,
- community-based infrastructure development,
- skills transfer linked to productive employment,
- and inclusive local economic development.
This experience informs our current work under IDEAS-TVET, particularly our emphasis on skills that translate into real economic opportunities, rather than short-term training without labour-market relevance.
Research, Policy Advisory & Academic Leadership
A.O. Strategies is led by Professor Ajuruchukwu Obi, an internationally recognised agricultural economist and development expert. In addition to leading applied development programmes, Professor Obi has an extensive academic career spanning West, East, Central, and Southern Africa, with advisory and teaching roles at Master’s and PhD levels.
Our work benefits from strong foundations in:
- agricultural economics and rural development policy,
- smallholder farming systems and value chains,
- employment, skills, and labour-market analysis,
- climate-smart and sustainable agricultural transitions.
We continue to provide academic supervision, research advisory services, and policy-relevant analysis that inform both training design and development practice.
Our Approach
We work at the intersection of:
- Skills development
- Enterprise creation
- Youth employment
- Policy and institutional reform
By combining hands-on training, digital learning platforms, field-based practice, and evidence-driven design, A.O. Strategies delivers programmes that are practical, scalable, and aligned with national and international development priorities.
Looking Ahead
Through IDEAS-TVET and other initiatives, A.O. Strategies remains committed to:
- empowering young people with market-relevant skills,
- strengthening agribusiness value chains,
- supporting inclusive growth and rural transformation,
- and contributing to sustainable development across Nigeria and Africa.
