Early Career and Foundations in Cassava Research
Professor Obi’s professional career began with pioneering research on improved cassava varieties at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) between 1982 and 1983. This early engagement with cassava research laid the empirical and practical foundation for his subsequent work in agricultural economics, technology adoption, and policy analysis, and continues to inform his leadership of cassava-focused training and value-chain development initiatives.
